I didn’t get a chance to write about my family’s trip to Bass Lake before school started.
Thus, here is my recap!
During the first week of August 2021 my family and I (minus my brother who is in the Army) went on a trip to Bass Lake.
Bass Lake is about an hour southwest of Yosemite National Park.
While less well-known than Lake Tahoe, Bass Lake is an awesome place to visit.

Lodging
My parents booked our family an AirBnb as opposed to a hotel. Our AirBnb was technically in the town of “Wishon, CA” but it was only a 5 minute drive to the lake!
The AirBnb had everything we needed – from a fully stocked kitchen to a nice backyard patio. The highlight of the AirBnb was all the wildlife we got to see. We saw quails, squirrels, deer, and even a black bear! The black bear only came when we had accidentally left our trash outside, but nonetheless it was so cool to see a black bear ~somewhat~ in the wild.

Food/Drink
Since Wishon, CA was a rather small town we did a big grocery haul at the beginning of the trip and cooked most meals at the AirBnb. However, we did try out “Pines Village Bakery and Pizzeria” for pizza one night. Definitely recommend!
Activities
Bass Lake offers a ton of fun activities! From kayaking to boating, you’re bound to have a good time there. We spent a few days set up near the lake with an EZ Up and coolers. One day we rented a pontoon boat and a float to pull behind it. I loved our day on the boat. Being on the water is always a great time.

If you’re looking for a cool, slightly-less busy lake town to visit, Bass Lake should be on your list!
