As a post-finals trip, my boyfriend and I went to Lake Tahoe! I hadn’t been since I was a kid and my boyfriend had never been so we figured we’d check it out. We decided to stay in North Lake Tahoe which is a tad less bustling, as South Lake Tahoe has a bigger downtown area!
We had a 7am flight from LAX to Reno but missed it by 2 minutes. Note to self: always overestimate how many people will be flying early on a Sunday morning (haha). But everyone has to have the experience of missing a flight at least once in their lives, right? Any who…
We boarded a 12pm flight and were off!
We arrived! We stayed at the Mourelatos Lakeshore Resort and couldn’t recommend it more – the rooms were spacious and had great Lake views.
The first night we ate at Fat Cat Bar & Grill. The burgers and beer were yummy!
Another plus of staying at Mourelatos – they have an ice cream shack across the street that’s open until 7 or 8pm!
We loved being able to grab Starbucks from a grocery store down the street and spend the mornings watching the water.
We went to Truckee one morning to checkout the downtown area and eat breakfast at the highly-recommended “Squeeze-In.”
Mourelatos had a ton of loungers near the beach! Perfect for sunbathing and a few drinks!
We came across “Eagle Falls” and had to get out for a waterfall picture – or two or three.
One day we took a drive around the lake, stopping first at Sand Harbor Beach in Nevada to kayak! The rentals from “Sand Harbor Rentals” were reasonably priced, too!
Another stop on our drive around the lake was at a boat rental place! My boyfriend loved boating around the lake. It was beautiful!
After a long day of kayaking and boating, dinner at Cold Water Brewery and Grill. Definitely recommend the elote dip and fish n’ chips!
All in all, Tahoe was amazing. Can’t wait to go back sometime soon!
Had to check out the famous Reno sign before boarding our flight back home!
Do you all have any upcoming trips? If so, where to?
