Jesse Itzler, a Navy SEAL, created the “40% Rule”.
According to Itzler, when your mind says you’re done, you’re only 40% done.
I LOVE this.
Imagine all the possibility that can come from adopting this rule!
Personally, I used to set small, realistic goals that I knew I could achieve.
It was only recently that I started asking myself “why not more” and started pushing past my limits. Since then, I have been able to achieve things I never thought were possible. And now, I am excited to see what I can achieve in the future!
Here’s the thing, as humans, we are often try to avoid pain and pursue (or maintain) pleasure.
It is easier to stay within the comfortable, cozy confines of our limits.
But limits are exactly that—confines…things that “keep and restrict someone within certain limits”.
We are capable of so much more than we think.
Going back to Itzler’s 40% rule, as soon as we think we’re “done”, we must shift our thoughts towards that magical 60% that remains.
By doing so, we enable ourselves to explore…and fulfill…that magical 60%.
In other words, be open to pushing past your limits.
The limits we set in our mind are a mere fraction of our potential.
Remember that.
